So, I go to the store where we had bought his sax from. I get there at 10am and their sign says they do not open until 11am. Great, now I have an hour to wait. It's too far to drive back home, so I go to Michael's to look around. Left with nothing!!!!?
So I get back to the music store at 11am. No one is around, I wait and no one shows up. The store had not opened by 11:30am. OK, now where to take it. I have to be at work by 3pm. I drive to another music store, they say, yes we repair saxophones, but we ship them out. When asked how long the turn around is, I am told about three weeks. Now, he has a concert March 8 and State Solo and ensemble March 24. so this will not work. So I drive home to look though the phone book for some where else to take it.
Get home, find a store with on site repair. But it is 30 minutes away. I go for it, hoping I can get there, get it fixed and back home by 2pm, to get ready for work.
I make it there and they take it back to their repair guy. He comes out and states unbelieving that my son could even play this horn. He tells me it would cost about 250.00 to 350.00, to repair the horn. Now, we had just bought this a year ago. And I am in complete shock. I am not going to pay that much money to repair this horn, and a new one at this time is way out of our budget.
So I tell the guy, look can we get it back to Saturday. It played then. He says yeah, it is missing a cork and it will cost 12.50 to replace. So I have them replace the cork and head home. I make it home by 2pm, to rush and get ready for work.
Now, I think, who is trying to scam me. The first place that sold me the horn or the second place trying to get me to buy a new horn.
The horn is playing again as before, and I guess I will take it somewhere else to get a third opinion. UGH!
